Cancellation & Refund Policy
Jivdaya Charitable Trust (JCT) takes donations through authorised payment providers on www.jivdayatrust.org and any associated subdomains. This policy explains what happens if a donation is made in error, charged twice, or needs to be cancelled, and how a monthly gift is stopped.
A donation is a gift, not a purchase: JCT does not sell goods or services through this website, so there is nothing to return. The paragraphs below set out the limited circumstances in which money is nevertheless sent back, because a mistaken payment should not be kept.
1. Donations are Final
Donations made to JCT are voluntary and, as stated in our Terms and Conditions, are final and non-refundable once received. Funds are committed to the treatment and care of animals soon after they arrive, and a donation that has already been spent on veterinary care cannot be recovered.
2. When We Will Refund a Donation
JCT will consider a refund where the payment was plainly not the one the donor intended. This includes:
- A duplicate charge — the same donation taken more than once for the same gift.
- An amount clearly typed in error, such as an extra digit.
- A payment the donor did not authorise, once the payment provider has confirmed it.
- An amount debited by the bank where the donation did not in fact reach JCT.
3. How to Request a Refund or Cancellation
Write to the accounts desk using the details at the end of this page, within 7 days of the payment. Please quote the date, the amount, the mobile number given with the donation, and the payment reference shown on your confirmation or bank statement, so the payment can be identified.
Requests are reviewed by the accounts desk and answered in writing. JCT reserves the right to decline a request that falls outside the circumstances listed above, or where an 80G tax-exemption certificate has already been issued against the donation and reported to the Income Tax Department.
4. How an Approved Refund is Paid
An approved refund is returned to the same payment method the donation was made from — the same card, bank account or UPI handle. JCT does not refund to a different account, and does not refund in cash.
Refunds are initiated within 7 working days of approval. The time taken for the money to appear in your account after that is set by your bank or card issuer and is outside our control; it is commonly a further 5 to 7 working days.
5. Cancelling a Monthly Donation
A monthly donation is set up as a standing instruction with your own bank or UPI app, and you can cancel it at any time. Cancelling it stops all future instalments; instalments already collected are treated as completed donations and are covered by the paragraphs above.
You can cancel from the mandate screen in your bank or UPI app, or write to the accounts desk and we will cancel it for you. Please allow for an instalment already in progress on the day you cancel.
6. Failed and Pending Payments
If a payment fails, no donation is recorded and no receipt is issued. Where a bank has debited the amount for a failed payment, it is normally reversed automatically by the bank. If it has not been reversed within 7 working days, write to the accounts desk with the payment reference and we will take it up with the payment provider.
Please do not pay a second time for a payment whose outcome is unclear. Contact the accounts desk first.
