Hunger- free lockdown for strays

Projects Hunger- free lockdown for strays

OVERVIEW

The pandemic of covid-19 has affected not only human lives, but also urban strays are in grave danger as they are completely dependent on humans for their survival. Knowing there are thousands of strays who are fighting the battle of survival and succumbing to death out of hunger we have taken a responsibility to feed over 600 dogs per day in the different part of the city to save as many stray lives as possible.

Challenge

  • Stray or community dogs are completely dependent on humans for food and they mostly survive on leftovers from local housing societies, food joints, marketplace, hotels & restaurants etc. But due to the covid-19 breakout all those places are closed, and all the strays are starving to death.
  • Regular feeders are also not being able to go out for feeding the strays honoring social distancing.

Solution

  • knowing there are thousands of strays who are fighting the battle of survival and succumbing to death out of hunger Jivdaya Charitable Trust has taken a vow to feed over 600+ dogs per day in the different part of the city to save as many stray lives as possible.

Long Term Impact

  • Well-fed happy dogs are the best friends of humans who protect their territory with their lives in return of the food
  • With proper food they build a strong immunity which help not catching or spreading any seasonal or zoonotic diseases amongst humans and therefore they both live in harmony
